Abstract
Clinical experience of Grice¢¥s operation, performed at Severance Hospital and the Crippled Children¢¥s Center during the 4 years from Jamuary 1961 to January 1965, was reviewed.
Twenty-seven cases of paralytic valgus, calcaneovalgus and equinovalgus feet received operation(17 cases of valgus, 5 cases of calcneo-valgus, and 5 cases of equinovalgs).
The age incidence was 3 years through 12 years. The follow-up on these procedures ranged from six months to 4 years, with an average of 2 years and 3 months.
The operative technique was modified from the original Grice¢¥s procedure.
Most of the cases received transference of peroneus longus and brevis or peroneus longus only, to the dorsum of the foot for inbalanced muscles.
An autogerous bone graft was taken from the proximal part of the tibia in 15 cases(55.6 percent) and the distal part of the fibula in 12 cases(44.4 percent)¢¥.
The end results were classified as Good and Poor. The good results were in 16 cases(59.3 percent), and the poor results were in 11 cases(40.7 percent).
Clinical unsatisfactory results among the poor cases were varus deformity of the foot in 7 cases(63.3 percent).
